Amazon announced that more than 2,200 employees at its HQ2 in Arlington participated in over 100 local initiatives in May as part of the company’s Global Month of Volunteering.

In May 2025, Amazon’s HQ2 in Arlington, Virginia, came alive with community spirit during the company’s Global Month of Volunteering, according to a press release from About Amazon. Over 2,200 Amazon employees participated in more than 100 service initiatives across Arlington, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C., reflecting Amazon’s enduring commitment to being a responsible corporate neighbor. Volunteers tackled projects from gardening in local parks to assembling essential supply kits, forging stronger bonds with area nonprofits and residents. The initiative brought together employees across teams and tenure.

"Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy this month," the press release said from Amazon. "Your efforts remind us that volunteering isn’t just a one-time event; it’s a cornerstone of what it means to be part of HQ2."

According to About Amazon, the company rallied over 134,000 employees across 55 countries for its Global Month of Volunteering—the largest turnout in company history. Driven largely by employees themselves, the initiative supported more than 2,500 nonprofits through diverse, hands-on service efforts. Volunteers tackled everything from park cleanups in Seattle and food distribution in Atlanta to ecological restoration in India and sandwich-making for schoolchildren in Australia. Amazon emphasized that these efforts reflect a broader commitment to community engagement that extends beyond May, with team members continuing to support local needs throughout the year—including recent wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles.

Amazon employs over 1.5 million people globally and offers competitive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid parental leave, and career development programs, according to their website. The company also provides initiatives like prepaid college tuition through Career Choice and mental health resources to support employee well-being.
