AbbVie has announced a multi-year partnership with the Chicago Cubs, launching a campaign titled "Striking Out Cancer." This initiative aims to support individuals living with cancer and will commence during the game between the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds. As part of this collaboration, AbbVie will donate $233 for every strikeout by a Cubs pitcher at home throughout the 2025 regular season. The donation amount symbolizes the approximate number of Americans diagnosed with cancer each hour, as reported by the American Cancer Society.

"Every strikeout this Chicago Cubs season is more than a statistic on the scoreboard – it is a step forward in supporting those living with and fighting cancer," stated Tracie Haas, senior vice president of corporate affairs at AbbVie. She emphasized their goal to create greater awareness for cancer advocacy in partnership with the Chicago Cubs.

The funds raised will be directed to Cubs Charities, which supports non-profit organizations advancing cancer research and treatment. Conquer Cancer, an ASCO Foundation charity focused on accelerating breakthroughs in research, will be among this year's beneficiaries.

Alex Seyferth, vice president of Cubs Corporate Partnerships, expressed enthusiasm about teaming up with AbbVie: "Every dollar raised will go to organizations on the front line of fighting this terrible disease."

Nancy R. Daly, CEO of Conquer Cancer, acknowledged the significance of this support: "The support from AbbVie and Cubs Charities is vital, enabling us to advance our critical work."

The "Striking Out Cancer" campaign aligns with AbbVie's mission as a biopharmaceutical company committed to delivering transformative medicines across various therapeutic areas including oncology.
