Tim Cook CEO of Apple | Apple

Apple has unveiled updates to Logic Pro for both Mac and iPad, enhancing beat-making and music production capabilities. A key feature, the Stem Splitter, now offers improved audio fidelity and can separate guitar and piano into stems. Users can also utilize Flashback Capture to retrieve performances they might have missed recording.

The Stem Splitter allows producers to select common stem variations like acapella or instrumental using presets. It also introduces a submix feature for exporting specific audio parts, such as creating an instrumental track by removing vocals.

Flashback Capture enables artists to recover performances even if they forgot to record them initially. This feature allows quick restoration of MIDI and audio performances through a key command or custom control bar button.

New sound packs are included in this update. Dancefloor Rush offers over 400 loops and drum kits for dynamic production. Magnetic Imperfections provides an analog tape texture, while Tosin Abasi features progressive metal guitar sounds with unique effects.

The Learn MIDI feature on iPad facilitates hands-on control by allowing users to assign knobs, faders, and buttons on MIDI devices within Logic Pro. The interface offers real-time visual feedback for easy customization.

Additional Mac features include Notepad support for Writing Tools powered by Apple Intelligence and a new search function for managing large projects by track name or number.

Logic Pro for Mac 11.2 is available as a free update for existing users or $199.99 for new users on the Mac App Store. It's also part of the Pro Apps Bundle for Education at the same price. Logic Pro requires macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later.

Logic Pro for iPad 2.2 is available as a free update or on the App Store at $4.99 per month or $49 annually, with a one-month free trial for new users. It requires iPadOS 18.4 or later.
