Penn State women's golfer Jami Morris has been named the spring captain of the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team. A native of Cleveland, Morris is recognized for her community service, academic excellence, and athletic achievements. She leads a group of 20 student-athletes honored for their contributions in these areas.
Morris founded Hit Fore Hope, a charity golf event, after her mother was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2016. Initially aiming to raise $10,000 for University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, the initiative expanded significantly. In three years, it generated over $280,000 for cancer research and support services.
“Hit Fore Hope started as a way to honor my mom, and I never imagined it would grow like this,” Morris stated. “Being named captain of the Good Works Team is proof of what can happen when a community comes together with purpose.”
Morris collaborates with University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center to ensure that funds support vital programs. She advocates for student-athlete involvement in philanthropy and speaks about cancer awareness.
Holly Rowe, ESPN reporter and Allstate NACDA Good Works Team Ambassador said, “As a cancer survivor, I know the power of turning adversity into action. What Jami has accomplished with Hit Fore Hope is truly inspiring.”
The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team recognizes 20 student-athletes from various NCAA divisions and NAIA sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, golf, lacrosse, and track and field. These athletes were selected from over 200 nominations across the country for their leadership both on and off the field.
