Weatherford International plc has announced a strategic agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance its digital capabilities and foster innovation in the energy sector. The collaboration involves Weatherford selecting AWS as its preferred cloud provider, with plans to migrate and modernize its software and hardware suite to AWS. This includes the Modern Edge Platform, which integrates advanced software-enabled hardware with Weatherford’s control system, Cygnet.
The agreement also aims to support the development of next-generation technologies by enhancing Weatherford’s Unified Data Model. This solution will allow customers to integrate, harmonize, and analyze multi-asset data within a scalable model, thus improving operational efficiency and enabling data-driven decision-making.
Furthermore, the partnership will enhance the WFRD Software Launchpad, providing customers access to various applications while maintaining control over their data without being restricted to a single application.
Girish Saligram, President and CEO of Weatherford, stated, "We are excited to work with AWS to deliver a comprehensive suite of innovative solutions that enable our customers to drive efficiency and innovation." Howard Gefen from AWS added that their capabilities are accelerating Weatherford’s digital transformation and helping meet customer needs.
