The Fischer Group, a prominent home builder in the region, has announced its decision to relocate its corporate headquarters from Erlanger to Covington. The new location will be in Covington's "First District" building at 525 Scott St.

Mayor Ron Washington expressed enthusiasm for the move, stating, "The City of Covington is proud to welcome The Fischer Group to our community. It’s especially meaningful that the builder behind one of Covington’s newest neighborhoods is planning to relocate here."

Greg Fischer, Chairman of The Fischer Group, highlighted the company's reasons for choosing Covington: “We believe Covington offers a uniquely business-friendly environment and a fantastic community for our associates to live, work, and thrive."

Fischer Homes holds the title of largest home builder in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Louisville and has recently expanded into Raleigh, North Carolina. The company has operated from its current headquarters since 2013.

CEO Tim McMahon noted their collaboration with local partners: “We are working closely with our partners at the City of Covington, Kenton County, and the van Rooyen Group to make this exciting vision a reality."

The relocation involves expanding the existing "First District" building by adding three stories on one end and another above an existing gym. This expansion will increase the building's size from 65,000 to 95,000 square feet at an estimated cost of $11 million.

Originally built as First District Elementary School in 1939 and later used by Gateway Community & Technical College until it was sold in 2021, the property now belongs to Covington Kentucky Development LLC under Guy van Rooyen's ownership.

The relocation is expected to be completed by late 2027.
