OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center has launched a new medical record system called CareConnect, aimed at improving patient care. This initiative represents a $29.1 million investment in IT standardization, and the system went live on May 4 at both the Southeastern Medical Center and OhioHealth Physician Group outpatient clinics.

CareConnect aims to create a single, unified record for each patient, enhancing communication between care teams and increasing safety. It also provides patients with access to MyChart, an online tool where they can view appointments, test results, billing information, and more.

Wendy Elliott, president of OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center, stated: “This is a transformational moment for Southeastern Medical Center and the patients we serve. CareConnect will improve the quality and safety of the care we provide by giving our clinical teams immediate access to a patient’s complete health history. It also empowers our patients to actively participate in their care like never before.”

The system is powered by Epic, a leading electronic medical record platform that connects patients and providers across OhioHealth's network and other hospitals using Epic nationwide. Sandy Schubert, MD, associate vice president of clinical affairs at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center noted: “This technology upgrade ensures that Southeastern Medical Center providers are equipped with the very best tools to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care."

Through MyChart, patients can manage appointments, communicate with providers, view test results, pay bills, and request medication refills from their devices. Family members or caregivers can be granted access to assist in managing health if consent is provided.

OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center joins other OhioHealth hospitals in adopting CareConnect as part of the organization's commitment to providing connected healthcare.
