Kenton County has announced the return of its annual Spring Clean Up, offering residents the chance to dispose of a variety of household items free of charge over a two-day period. Participation in the event requires proof of residency.
Two locations are available for residents to drop off their items. Kenton County Public Works, located at 420 Independence Station Road, will accept tires and appliances, operating from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days. Alternatively, Piner Elementary, situated at 2845 Piner Ridge Road, will not accept tires and appliances but will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 25 and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on April 26.
Items accepted include appliances (with a $25 fee for those containing Freon), up to two mattresses or box springs per household, yard debris, electronics, vehicle and rechargeable batteries, fluids that have been removed from equipment, scrap metal, and a limited number of tires. For additional tires, residents are encouraged to visit free tire collection events across Kentucky.
Items not accepted include hazardous materials, pesticides, paints and stains, liquid waste, fire extinguishers, tanks and cylinders, oil and antifreeze, fluorescent bulbs, shingles, concrete, bricks, dirt, junk vehicles, and large furniture from full UHauls.
Kenton County Public Works reserves the right to refuse any items. Businesses, including auto, construction, or junk removal businesses, will not be catered to during the event.
Participants are asked to ensure their loads are safely covered and secured, and they will be responsible for unloading their items upon arrival.
