Allstate, in partnership with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), has revealed the 207 nominees for the first-ever Allstate NACDA Good Works Team for the spring. This initiative acknowledges student-athletes who exhibit leadership and commitment beyond their sports involvement, focusing on community service, academic success, and athletics.
“These remarkable young men and women define what it means to lead and serve — whether pulling a fire truck to raise funds for pediatric cancer research, spearheading a campus-wide campaign to eliminate plastic waste or earning EMT certification to assist their communities in times of crisis,” remarked Elizabeth Brady, Allstate’s chief marketing, customer and communications officer. “We honor their unwavering commitment to community service.”
The program highlights nominees who serve their communities across 13 sports, including baseball, softball, tennis, golf, and lacrosse. On April 29, 20 student-athletes, divided equally between men and women, will be selected for the team. One participant will be named the team captain.
The initiative aims to recognize 60 student-athletes annually across the seasons. The winter team had 193 nominees, with Auburn gymnast Sophia Groth being named the first female captain. Groth, as president of Auburn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, has promoted community outreach and support for student parents.
Established in 2024, the Good Works Team honors collegiate athletes' contributions beyond the playing field. This initiative follows the tradition of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which has celebrated college football student-athletes since 1992.
NACDA, currently in its 60th year, serves over 24,000 athletics administrators across North America, managing professional associations and organizing numerous professional development events annually. For more details, visit NACDA’s website.
