In 2023, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) issued 17 grants totaling $20,063,445 to fund economic development projects in Alabama.

This represents a 40% decrease from 2022, when the state received $33,450,820 in funding.

Still, Alabama ranked third across the U.S. in total EDA grant funding for 2023. South Carolina topped the list with $30,038,466 in funding across 14 grants.

City of Phenix received the largest EDA grant for funding an economic development project in the state, totalling $3,758,965.
