Walgreens has announced that its customers have contributed over $5.3 million to support recovery efforts following the Los Angeles wildfires. These funds were raised through a nationwide PIN pad campaign conducted from January 14 to 21, 2025, and will be managed by the Walgreens Foundation.

The foundation has allocated these funds to various organizations dedicated to addressing housing, food, job, and educational insecurity. Additionally, they are supporting health and wellness initiatives and aiding people impacted by displacement and loss.

Among the recipients is the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, which is addressing food insecurity affecting over 2 million residents. The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation has also received funds to continue supporting first responders and assist with both immediate needs and long-term cleanup efforts. The Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation Emergency Fund is providing resources to students to maintain educational continuity and address social and mental health challenges resulting from the disaster.

Other beneficiaries include the California Fire Foundation Wildfire and Disaster Recovery Fund, California Community Foundation Wildfire and Disaster Recovery Fund, and The Pasadena Community Foundation, all offering aid for both immediate and long-term recovery. Direct Relief is disseminating medications, protective gear, and supplies, while the American Red Cross provides financial aid, housing support, food, relief items, and health services.

The fund beneficiaries were vetted and selected by Philanthropy California in collaboration with Northern California Grantmakers, Southern California Grantmakers, Catalyst of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.
