Lou Cerone, a resident of La Grange, has expressed his support for Brian Grogan in the upcoming election for the District 102 School Board. Cerone's endorsement is based on Grogan's focus on improving school infrastructure. He made this statement on February 8.
“I moved to La Grange, in part, because of the schools,” said Lou Cerone. “It is disappointing that my children will be bussed four times a year to the science lab at Barnsdale because the school lacks a science or a computer lab. It was good to hear that Brian Grogan is serious about tackling D102’s aging infrastructure and improving educational outcomes for our kids.”
Cerone has voiced concerns about the current state of school facilities, highlighting the absence of adequate science and computer labs, which necessitates transporting students offsite for instruction.
According to Brian Grogan, the infrastructure within District 102 is aging. A referendum aimed at addressing some of these infrastructure issues will be on the ballot on April 1. If approved, it could lead to upgrades at certain schools; however, it may not cover facilities like science labs or full-year social studies programs. The school board has previously faced criticism over its management of large budgets, with some projects being awarded through no-bid contracts.
"Kids at Park Middle School only receive science classes for half the year because of space constraints," said Grogan in a Facebook post. "I have four children at three different District 102 schools so I see these infrastructure gaps up close. As a finance executive with experience managing large budgets, I can help the district capitalize on the referendum and invest for the future."
Grogan holds positions as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at McNally Capital, a private equity firm located in Chicago. In his role, he oversees financial reporting, tax matters, acquisition structuring, legal and regulatory compliance, and daily operations. He works closely with the investment team on portfolio oversight and investor relations and leads the valuation committee.
A resident of La Grange for 13 years, Grogan lives with his wife Meredith and their four children. He is an active sports enthusiast who dedicates time to coaching his children's sports teams.
