OhioHealth's Radiation Oncology program has been recognized with the 2024 Human Experience (HX) Guardian of Excellence Award by Press Ganey. This marks the second consecutive year that the team has received this honor, which is awarded as part of Press Ganey’s annual ranking of top hospitals and health systems based on patient experience.
The award places OhioHealth’s Radiation Oncology program among the top 5% of healthcare providers in medical practice and outpatient services over the past year. Dr. Michael Siedow, medical director of radiation oncology at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, attributes this achievement to the commitment and care provided by the hospital staff.
“Our staff has been providing cancer care to our community for more than 30 years,” stated Dr. Siedow. “We have staff members who were born and raised in the community and have devoted 20-plus years to this department. It is a great sign that both our clinic and OhioHealth overall have retained so many employees for such a long period of time.”
Dr. Siedow highlighted some advanced technologies at Mansfield Hospital that contribute to their high level of care, including stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). He explained, “We are the only hospital in Richland County and the surrounding area to offer techniques like stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). SBRT consists of short, high-dose, ultra-precise radiation treatment while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. We’re able to offer this therapy using our state-of-the-art True Beam Linear accelerator, installed in July of 2023, which allows us to deliver the most accurate radiation technology to the patient. Additionally, we have the ability to refer patients for stereotactic radiosurgery to local clinics in Columbus and Delaware.”
