OhioHealth is making substantial investments to accommodate the growth in central Ohio, with over $1 billion dedicated to expanding healthcare facilities. The largest healthcare system in the area is enhancing its hospitals to meet increasing demand and improve patient care.
At OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, a nearly 600,000-square-foot Women's Health Center is under construction. This expansion will include 185 inpatient beds, labor and delivery rooms, new operating rooms, mammogram services, and obstetric and gynecological care. Kristina Stuecher, vice president and project executive of the OhioHealth Women’s Health Center, stated to NBC4 anchor Jerod Smalley: “We’ve engaged with a lot of women in our community here, and they said that they want more access to care, and so we’re proud to be a partner with them to deliver upon that.”
The new tower at Riverside Methodist Hospital will be located near State Route 315 for improved connectivity.
In downtown Columbus, OhioHealth Grant Medical Center is also expanding. A new 33,000-square-foot Primary Care Center will open in early March with over 50 patient rooms. It will also house the hospital's residency program. Following this opening, phase two of Grant's $400 million expansion will commence with the construction of a seven-story trauma center tower at Town Street and 6th Street. This facility is anticipated to open in 2028. Jean Halpin, president of OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, told NBC4: “Downtown is growing, and we want to be able to serve the residents as well as those who are working downtown.”
Additionally, OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital plans an expansion that includes adding inpatient beds and critical care capacity by 2030.
