Shelley B. Leibowitz Director | Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley has announced the official launch of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Morgan Stanley Futures (China) Co., Ltd., which will offer brokerage services for China's onshore commodity futures market. The company is based in Beijing and will provide these services on several major exchanges, including the Dalian Commodity Exchange, Shanghai Futures Exchange, Shanghai International Energy Exchange, and Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange.

Gokul Laroia, CEO of Asia at Morgan Stanley, stated: “This is another important step forward for the Firm in China as we continue to build our integrated platform to best support domestic and international clients.”

In May 2023, Morgan Stanley received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Committee (CSRC) to establish Morgan Stanley Futures (China) Co., Ltd. This made it one of the first international financial services firms with full ownership of a futures company in China.

The company plans to expand its offerings by providing brokerage services for equity and fixed-income financial futures and options on the China Financial Futures Exchange once it secures the necessary qualifications.
