The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. has announced the formation of a new Capital Solutions Group aimed at enhancing services for corporate and investor clients in private credit, private equity, and other asset classes. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate financing, origination, structuring, and risk management activities within Global Banking & Markets.
David Solomon, Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, emphasized the firm's strategic position: "Our strategy and core franchise strengths position Goldman Sachs to operate at the fulcrum of one of the most important structural trends taking place in finance: the emergence and growth of private credit and other asset classes that can be privately deployed."
Solomon further highlighted client demand for these services: "There is significant demand from our investing clients for private credit and private equity – from investment grade and leveraged lending to hybrid capital and asset-backed finance as well as equity."
The Capital Solutions Group will merge existing capabilities from various divisions within Goldman Sachs. This includes combining resources from the Financing Group with Financial Sponsors coverage from Investment Banking and Alternative Management firms' coverage from FICC and Equities. The aim is to enhance coordination, innovation, and service delivery.
Additionally, an alternatives origination group will be established within Capital Solutions to focus on diverse areas such as investment-grade credit, leveraged loans, real estate, infrastructure, asset-backed finance, and private equity.
Pete Lyon and Mahesh Saireddy have been appointed to lead this new group. They will join the firm’s Management Committee. Vivek Bantwal will transition to Asset & Wealth Management to co-head Global Private Credit alongside James Reynolds.
Goldman Sachs aims to leverage its advisory franchise that collaborates with over 10,000 companies globally. The firm seeks to capitalize on its strong public-private origination business across fixed income and equity markets.
This development continues Goldman Sachs' One Goldman Sachs framework designed to offer comprehensive client services by integrating sourcing with investing capabilities across various opportunities in private credit and private equity.
Goldman Sachs remains a leading global financial institution offering a wide range of financial services worldwide since its founding in 1869.
