The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. has announced the appointment of Alex Golten as Chief Risk Officer. Golten will also join the firm's Management Committee, with both roles effective from January 1.

Alex has worked at our firm for decades and understands our unique culture and operating ethos," stated David Solomon, Chairman and CEO. "He will use this experience to effectively partner with senior leaders across the firm and advance our enterprise risk management initiatives."
In his new position, Golten leads the Risk Division and sets risk management standards for Goldman Sachs. He takes over from Brian Lee, who assumes the role of Chairman of the Risk Division.
Golten brings over 27 years of experience within Goldman Sachs in various leadership roles related to risk management. His previous positions include head of Market Risk and Finance Risk, chief credit risk officer, head of Enterprise Risk, and co-head of Credit Risk for EMEA.
Golten joined Goldman Sachs in 1997 as an analyst. He was promoted to managing director in 2008 and became a partner in 2014. He holds an MA in Economics from the University of Edinburgh.
