Amazon has announced a new initiative to introduce eco-friendly packaging for its Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV products. This move is part of the company's commitment to The Climate Pledge, which aims for net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

According to Amazon, the redesigned packaging will enhance sustainability by increasing the use of recycled fibers and reducing reliance on virgin materials. The new packaging reportedly incorporates an average of 30% more recycled fiber and reduces ink usage by 60%. The brown kraft box design eliminates bleaching chemicals, making the packaging both environmentally safer and more sustainable. This change allows for a higher percentage of post-consumer recycled materials.

In addition to these changes, Amazon is also improving accessibility for customers with visual impairments. A new tactile-marked QR code will be featured on the Quick Start Guides in device boxes. This feature enables customers to easily scan and access digital setup guides, product information, and troubleshooting tips.

The company has also made strides in reducing waste across its delivery packaging. Since 2015, Amazon has reduced average per-shipment packaging weight by 43% and eliminated plastic air pillows from its global fulfillment centers. These efforts have saved nearly 15 billion plastic air pillows annually.

Amazon remains committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040 through The Climate Pledge. The company focuses on sustainability across operations, reducing waste, responsibly sourcing resources, fostering community partnerships, and upholding human rights and labor standards.

Amazon provides a range of services including online and in-person shopping, delivery of fresh produce, media distribution, various devices like Alexa and Fire TV, as well as cloud solutions through Amazon Web Services (AWS). Its operations include logistics and customer service while delivering entertainment through platforms such as Amazon Originals, Prime Video, and Audible.
