Global investment firm Carlyle has reached an agreement to sell 1E, a company specializing in Digital Employee Experience (DEX) software solutions, to TeamViewer SE. The transaction values 1E at $720 million.
1E provides a DEX platform that offers real-time insights into enterprise IT environments. Its products help minimize IT downtime and costs by identifying issues and automating solutions directly at the endpoint. Founded in 1997 and based in London, 1E employs approximately 300 people across the UK, US, India, and Ireland.
During Carlyle's ownership, Carlyle Europe Technology Partners collaborated with 1E’s founder Sumir Karayi and CEO Mark Banfield to enhance the company's leadership team and strengthen its market position as a DEX leader. This included refining their go-to-market strategy and achieving industry recognition such as being named a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for DEX management tools.
Fernando Chueca from CETP expressed satisfaction with supporting the transformation of 1E into a recognized global leader. "We believe that the business will continue to thrive as part of TeamViewer," he said.
Mark Banfield, CEO of 1E, highlighted the mission to innovate IT solutions for future work environments. He stated that partnering with TeamViewer would allow them to scale their offerings further. "I’m excited to join TeamViewer’s management board as we enter this next chapter," Banfield added.
Sumir Karayi praised the achievements of the 1E team since its inception in 1997. He expressed confidence in continued success under TeamViewer's ownership.
The deal is pending customary regulatory approvals and represents Carlyle Europe Technology Partners IV's fourth exit within twelve months.
