Gas prices in the United States are approaching a three-year low, with the national average for a gallon of gas dropping to $3.03. This marks a decrease of three cents since last week. The national average has hovered close to the $3 mark for over a month, with the last instance of prices falling below $3 occurring on May 11, 2021.
Andrew Gross, a spokesperson for AAA, commented on the trend: “The national average is tantalizingly close to falling below $3 a gallon, and it could happen in a few days.” He also noted that "32 states already have an average below or well below $3," highlighting Hockley County, Texas as having the lowest county average at $2.30.
While gas prices continue to fall, the national average cost for electricity at public EV charging stations remains steady at 34 cents per kilowatt-hour.
