The national average for a gallon of gasoline has decreased by two cents, reaching $3.13, according to recent data. The decline is attributed to low oil costs and modest domestic demand for gasoline.
"After the brief interruption caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, gas prices have resumed their gradual season decline," stated Andrew Gross, spokesperson for AAA. He added, "We are only about seven cents away from the national average’s 2024 low, and it will likely keep rolling and fall below $3 soon."
In addition to monitoring fuel prices, AAA also tracks electricity costs for electric vehicle charging. Currently, the national average cost per kilowatt-hour at public charging stations has decreased by one cent to 34 cents.
AAA estimates that around 1.2 million of its members reside in households with one or more electric vehicles.
