The University of Cincinnati volleyball team achieved a season sweep against UCF with a three-set victory on Wednesday night in Orlando, Florida. This marks the Bearcats' first series sweep of the Knights since 2019.
Cincinnati's record now stands at 12-8 overall and 3-6 in the Big 12 conference. Junior Carly Glendinning was pivotal to the team's success, leading the offense with a match-high of 16 kills at a .297 hitting percentage. She has been the top scorer in kills for her team in 13 matches this season and has recorded double-digit kills on 14 occasions.
On defense, Faith Frame contributed with 15 digs and Lilly Gillespie added another ten, combining for a total of 25 digs. Senior Abby Walker also played an important role with four kills from nine attempts and five blocks.
The Bearcats started strong in the first set with an initial run that gave them a lead they maintained throughout, ending it at 25-18 thanks to Walker's consecutive blocks. In the second set, despite UCF's attempt to close in on Cincinnati's lead, an attack error by UCF handed Cincinnati a narrow win at 25-23.
In the third set, scoring runs helped Cincinnati establish a solid lead which they maintained until closing out at 25-20, securing their straight-set victory over UCF.
Looking ahead, Cincinnati will face Houston on Friday night at 8 p.m. ET in Houston, Texas.
