The University of Cincinnati volleyball team is set to embark on a two-match road trip, facing UCF and Houston. The first match against UCF will take place on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Orlando, Florida. Following this, the Bearcats will play Houston at 8 p.m. ET on Friday night. Both matches are scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+.
Cincinnati aims to end a five-match losing streak as they face UCF. In their recent home game against Texas Tech, the Bearcats fell in five sets despite leading in kills and hitting percentage but were hindered by service errors. Freshman libero Faith Frame made significant contributions with her third career 20-dig performance and seven assists during the Texas Tech match.
Freshman Lilly Gillespie also achieved a career-high with 16 digs against Texas Tech, while sophomore middle blocker Zeta Washington recorded a season-high of 12 kills at a .417 clip in the same match. The Bearcats have employed a 6-2 rotation over their last five games, featuring Katelyn Lefler and Caroline Endres as setters.
Junior Carly Glendinning leads the team in kills, points, and aces per set. She has consistently led the team in kills across several matches this season. Sophomore Sydney Nolan follows Glendinning in kills and ranks third in digs for the team.
Senior Abby Walker stands out for her blocking abilities, ranking eighth in blocks per set within the league and achieving six or more blocks multiple times this season. The Bearcats rank fourth in the Big 12 for blocks per set.
Cincinnati holds an all-time record of 9-18 against UCF since their first encounter in 1978 but managed to break a nine-match losing streak earlier this season by defeating them at home. Against Houston, Cincinnati holds a slight edge with an all-time record of 16-13; however, Houston has won their last five encounters.
Head coach Molly Alvey is nearing a milestone with just two wins needed to reach 200 victories with Cincinnati.
