On Tuesday, Sept. 25, SBA Deputy Administrator Dilawar Syed visited Jackson, Detroit, and surrounding areas to meet with local entrepreneurs and highlight the impact of investments by the Biden-Harris Administration in infrastructure, technology, and manufacturing. Since President Biden took office, more than 19.4 million founders have filed to start a business – including more than 528,000 in Michigan alone.
Deputy Administrator Syed began his day by meeting with the Executive Director of the Jackson Area Manufacturers Association (JAMA) to discuss the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda and how these funds have benefited Michigan manufacturers. The Deputy heard about local challenges for small businesses and previewed the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center being built to support the growing manufacturing ecosystem in Jackson.
Deputy Administrator Syed then hosted an SBA Townhall at Masjid Al-Falah in Hamtramck to share resources available to entrepreneurs in this community. The Deputy was joined by representatives from SBA’s local office, as well as interagency partners from the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). During his remarks, Deputy Administrator Syed highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s transformative investments in Michigan and provided an overview of the SBA’s reforms and improvements over the last three years.
