Amazon has announced the career advancement of a robotics trainer who benefited from its upskilling programs. Originally from Colombia, the employee has achieved homeownership and secured a significant position with Amazon.

According to About Amazon, Lina encountered significant challenges, including single motherhood, adjusting to life in the U.S. with limited English skills, and navigating an economic crisis. Her turning point came when she began working at Amazon as a Level 1 associate, benefiting from the company’s medical insurance, which was crucial for her and her son’s well-being.

Amazon’s upskilling programs provided Lina with opportunities to advance her career, leading her to a position as a robotics trainer. Lina was able to access training without incurring any costs. This professional growth facilitated her achievement of homeownership. According to About Amazon, Amazon’s programs aim to support employees’ career development.

"One of the great parts of working for Amazon is that if you are inquisitive, and you show that you work hard, you will be recognized—someone is going to discover you," said Lina. "Managers allow you the flexibility to try lots of different career paths to see what’s right for you. And all of the training I received was pre-paid by Amazon."

Amazon's Career Choice Program pre-pays tuition for continuing education. The Upskilling 2025 pledge committed $1.2 billion to provide 300,000 employees with access to education and skills training programs, including college tuition for front-line employees.

Amazon provides a range of services, including online and in-person shopping, delivery of fresh produce, and media distribution. The company operates various devices and services such as Alexa and Fire TV and offers cloud solutions through Amazon Web Services (AWS). Its operations include logistics and customer service, and it also delivers entertainment through platforms like Amazon Originals, Prime Video, and Audible.
