A report from Amazon announced that over 15,000 independent sellers across Illinois made an average of $250,000 worth of sales annually.

More than 131 million items were sold on Amazon from these independent sellers in 2023 in Illinois, according to Amazon's selling partners website.

Amazon's reported that $250,000 of sales was the average sales for more than 15,000 independent sellers in the state during 2023.

More than 1.8 million people are employed by Amazon's independent sellers, which make up 60% of Amazon's total store sales. The top 5 categories independent sellers sell the most products in health and personal care, beauty, home, grocery, and apparel. 

The overall average of sales for independent sellers across United States was $250,000 for 2023 and independent sellers across the U.S. sold more than 4.5 billion items during the year.

Independent sellers are defined by Amazon as mostly small and medium-size businesses that sell on Amazon. They are important for mobility and growth that directly benefit various communities. They provide hundreds of millions of customers products.

More than 10,000 independent sellers had earnings that were greater than $1 million for the first time last year.
