Morgan Stanley announced the winners of its 15th annual Strategy Challenge, a pro bono program designed to assist nonprofits in addressing strategic issues. This year's winners supported Protect All Children from Trafficking (PACT) in the U.S. and Anthony Nolan in the UK.
Over a 10-week period, Morgan Stanley employees provided over 13,000 hours of consulting services to 15 nonprofits. The consulting focused on areas such as service expansion, productivity improvement, and enhancing business models. The challenge concluded with presentations in New York and London.
In the U.S., the winning team worked with PACT, an organization dedicated to preventing child sexual exploitation and trafficking. The team assessed the potential for expanding PACT's school curriculum and considered implementing a paid service model to support this growth. Their recommendations aimed at developing internal capabilities, increasing engagement, and offering flexible pricing options for schools while generating new revenue streams.
“We are honored to have been selected as the winning team of this year’s U.S. Strategy Challenge,” said Lori L. Cohen, CEO at Protect All Children from Trafficking. “Morgan Stanley provided invaluable consultation on strategic planning to PACT, assisted in the development of a viable revenue model, and identified ways to optimize our current resources.”
In the UK, the winning team collaborated with Anthony Nolan, a charity focused on stem cell transplants for patients with blood cancer and disorders. The team's recommendations included leveraging data for machine learning algorithms, refining communications, improving operational efficiency, and prioritizing donor outreach.
“Stem cell donor availability is a global challenge and a critical factor in patient survival,” said Chris Phillips, Chief Engagement Officer at Anthony Nolan. “The Morgan Stanley team’s curiosity, professionalism and dedication made this a very special experience.”
Joan Steinberg, Global Head of Philanthropy at Morgan Stanley and President of the Morgan Stanley Foundation stated: "Every year, our employees apply their professional skills to giving back and driving social impact in collaboration with leading nonprofits through our Strategy Challenge."
The participating nonprofits this year included: Anthony Nolan, Bottom Line, Counseling in Schools, India Home, PACT (formerly ECPAT-USA), PFLAG NYC, Place2Be, Prospect Schools, Rising Ground, Sakhi for South Asian Survivors of Violence Inc., Save the Children UK/US combined submission; The Felix Project (UK); The New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF); West London Zone; YoungMinds Trust
