The microchips-based legislation that was spearheaded by Arizona Democratic Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly has received the seal of approval from the president of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

“This CHIPs act will help us on-shore that supply chain and a lot of that is coming right here to Arizona,” Danny Seiden told KTAR News this week. “So, this is helpful to our local economy … it’s good for the whole country.”

Seiden added that this is the type of legislation Congress should focus on.

Kelly, a chief negotiator of the CHIPS Act of 2022, noted that the bill would pave the way for job seekers to land well-paying occupations.

“After over a year of hard work, our landmark microchip manufacturing bill is now law,” Kelly told the Gila Herald this week. “Our legislation will play a critical role in boosting Arizona’s position as a leader in microchip manufacturing. And thanks to our bill, Arizonans will see thousands of high-paying jobs, many of which will not require a four-year degree, stronger supply chains, lower costs, and a more competitive economy for the generations to come. Today is a win for Arizonans and our national security, and a big loss for China.”

Sinema said she approved of the $52 billion bill because it would allow America to be more reliant on semiconductor manufacturing amid the current semiconductor shortage across the world.

“Arizonans continue to be concerned about rising prices, inflation, and empty store shelves,” Sinema said in a news release from her office this week. “With our bipartisan bill now law we’re boosting semiconductor manufacturing in Arizona and investing historic resources in science and innovation – all of which will lower costs for families, strengthen our supply chains, support countless high-paying jobs, strengthen our national security, and stand the test of time. I’m proud of the lasting results our law delivers for Arizonans.”
