Gov. Tom Wolf (D-Pa.) this week revealed a $10 million investment for improving 10 airports throughout the state through the Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, according to a news release from the governor's office. The money will finance 12 projects, showing the importance of air travel to Pennsylvania’s economy.
“Aviation plays a vital role in keeping our state’s economy moving,” Wolf said, according to the news release. “These investments will help Pennsylvania’s airports operate safely, expand to meet current demands, and sustain growth well into the future.”
Throughout the state, Pennsylvania has a total of 121 public-use aviation facilities, including airports, heliports, and seaplane bases. The new investments will aid the expansion of aviation-related operational and economic opportunities statewide, the news release noted.
The 12 projects approved by Wolf will occur in the following counties: Allegheny, Berks, Bucks, Cumberland, Jefferson, Lancaster, Lehigh, Philidelphia, Snyder, and York. A full list of the projects and the amount dedicated to each is available in the governor's news release.
