Anderson University issued the following announcement on April 18.

The 2020 Visual Communication Design graduates of Anderson University are hosting a gallery opening on Saturday, April 18, from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the Wilson Gallery in the Krannert Fine Arts Building. The exhibition, called Revamp the Experience, will feature the work of the four graduating design seniors.

The exhibit will showcase a diverse collection of artwork and design pieces in digital and print formats. Stemming from the word “revamp,” meaning to improve and make new, Revamp the Experience features four projects that revamp the user’s perceptions of an everyday item, digital interface, or an idea, and also revamp the item or idea itself.

Courtney Cook’s project, titled ‘START,’ is centered around changing the perceptions of what it means to be creative through challenging people to push their limits with how they experience and create art.

Braden Crowell’s project, featuring the fictional company ‘Cozy Foot Solutions,’ focuses on improving the consumer’s experience with an everyday item, the tennis shoe, and educating the consumer about the importance of a proper shoe for long-term foot care.

Michaela Dornfeld’s project, ‘AccompanyMe,’ aims to revamp experience through an app that enables musicians to build new community connections and experience support in their transition into post-college life.

Sarah Rozzi’s project, called ‘Don’t Make Me Think,’ features a usability study conducted on Anderson University’s intranet, AccessAU, which was then used to identify points of improvement in the user’s experience when using the intranet. The project also features a prototype of visioning for what AccessAU could be if it was based upon user’s needs and expectations.

The gallery opening will take place from 3-4:30 p.m. and students featured in the gallery will give talks from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The talks will explore the students’ motivations and thoughts behind their creations in depth. Both the gallery opening, and the gallery talks, are open to the public. The Wilson Gallery will display the projects until May 8, 2020.

The Jesse C. Wilson Gallery serves Anderson University and East Central Indiana with monthly exhibitions that feature the work of regionally and nationally recognized artists. Through these exhibitions, the gallery is dedicated to enriching and engaging AU students, as well as promoting the visual arts within the greater community.

For more information, contact the director of exhibitions programming, Tai Lipan, at (765) 641-4320 or talipan@anderson.edu. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment.
