Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.
Benevilla actively works to strengthen West Valley communities by providing services addressing the day-to-day physical, emotional and social needs of the elderly, children and disabled populations. Funding from the grant will support the Benevilla volunteer Home Services Program and the Benevilla “Caregiver Connect” event series.
“Thank you to the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust for giving us the opportunity, through this grant, to assist more of our community neighbors through our free Home Services Program and our free “Caregiver Connect” educational events” stated Benevilla President & CEO, Joanne Thomson. “This grant will help us reach even more of the community that needs our support.”
The Benevilla free Home Services program provides older adults in our community extra assistance to maintain their independence by providing help with grocery shopping, assisted transportation to medical appointments, basic handyman services, business assistance, friendly visits and phone wellness check-ins, all provided by Benevilla volunteers.
The Benevilla “Caregiver Connect” events, hosted 3 times a year in different locations in the Northwest valley, provide family caregivers with free support and guidance to assist them on their caregiving journey. Family caregivers have the opportunity to get their pressing questions answered from senior industry experts and collect free resources from many of our community senior care providers on matters of interest to older adults including senior living options, home care choices, insurance alternatives, elder law and assistance with government programs.
“We're honored to support Benevilla through the volunteer Home Services Program and “Caregiver Connect” events, so more Valley seniors may live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes,” said Trustee Chair Carol Peden Schilling.
With the generous support of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, Benevilla aims to serve 600 unduplicated West Valley seniors and/or adults with disabilities through the volunteer Home Services Program and 400 caregivers through the “Caregiver Connect” event series throughout the year.
