GILBERT — The Town of Gilbert is proposing its first rate adjustment since 2009 for its residential and commercial customers, a move it says is an effort to balance its funds and expenses over the next few years.
The proposal will go before the Town Council in September. The town will also host a series of open houses in August to provide information on how rate changes will impact utility bills and to get feedback from the community.
"Unlike many of our neighboring communities, Gilbert’s water and wastewater rates have been unchanged since 2009 and environmental services rates decreased in 2012," the town said in its announcement.
The residential customer open house workshops will be held on Aug. 7 at the Power Ranch Barn on East Autumn Drive and on Aug. 20 at the University Building on West Vaughn Avenue. Both workshops will take place from 6-7:30 p.m.
Open house workshops will be held for commercial customers on Aug. 7 at the Power Ranch Barn and on Aug. 20 at the University Building with both running from 4-5:30 p.m.
Residents can also vist gilbertaz.gov/utilityrates to use the "utility bill calculator" to estimate the cost of the rate adjustments for their bill.
