Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and City Council members recently gave their stamp of approval to the city's $1.5 billion budget for FY 2018-19, which includes a Five-Year Capital Plan and a pay adjustment for city employees. 

During its recent City Council meeting, Tucson City Manager Michael Ortega received approval for his proposed budget that also includes a previously approved 2.5 percent pay adjustment for city employees who have at least 18 months of service. Also included is an extension of the amortization period for mandated payment towards the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.

In addition to the budget approval, the Tucson City Council also held a public hearing regarding the primary property tax increase. According to the city, Rothschild and the City Council will adopt the property tax levies this month. They will also decide whether to put a $225 million bond proposal on the November ballot. Plans call for the funds to be used for city park improvements.
