The Marana Tri-Star Program is made up of Marana Police, property managers and landlords, and residents who want to create a safer community by targeting criminal activity.
The program requires property and maintenance managers to complete training, sign Crime Free Lease Agreements with all of the residents and show commitment towards the safe property standard of the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design criteria. This does not eliminate all crime, but does help prevent it and ensure there are consequences when it is committed.
There are six apartment complexes in Marana in the Tri-Star program.
Thomas Cox, Marana Police Department Volunteer who leads the Tri-Star program, gave the El Memorial De Don Frew Apartments as an example of successful implementation of the program, which makes them the only Level 3 certified residence. The other five have Level 2 certifications.
