The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will be home to SkyBridge Arizona's new operations, a move that is expected to create 17,000 direct and indirect jobs and marks the first international air cargo hub which will house Mexican and U.S. Customs.

The project which is also expected to increase cargo flights out of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport by 2,000 per year and reaching 10,000 by 2036.

"The arrival of SkyBridge Arizona once again proves that our state is a national leader in advancing innovative new ideas," Gov. Doug Ducey said in a press release. "Arizona has forged an incredible relationship with our friends and neighbors in Mexico, and we're very proud of this latest collaboration to enhance international trade and create more jobs for Arizonans."

Through the Unified Cargo Processing Program, which was piloted in Nogales last year, SkyBridge Arizona's operation at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will allow products to be sent anywhere in Mexico without having to go through the international customs center in Mexico City.
