A recent American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona (AICCAZ) luncheon featured a local tribal-owned company and introduced its new “Rapid Fire” program, a way to allow members to give short promotional presentations.

The meeting highlighted Mortenson Construction, which works among the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian and Gila River Indian communities. Mortenson develops projects for clients in the hospitality, retail, sports and education industries, as well as recreational and correctional facilities, according to a press release.

The chamber’s Rapid Fire program debuted with two Mortenson team members: project engineer and estimator Cherilyn McCabe and project development manager Chase Farnsworth Sr., who presented their respective work with tribes countywide.

McCabe said she strives to bring “genuine and innovative” projects to tribal communities through construction management, according to the release. She has worked closely with architects, designers and other colleagues at Mortenson Construction as an engineer and an estimator.

Farnsworth has been in the construction business since the age of 14, serving with Mortenson for the last three years as a project manager, the release stated. A native of Mesa, he imparted the message of passion about building combined with customer solutions and community engagement.

AICCAZ conducts business with many indigenous tribes, including Fort McDowell Yavapai, White Mountain Apache, Yavapai-Apache, Navajo and Tohono O’odham Nations; Gila River and Salt River Maricopa-Pima Indian Communities; and the Hopi Tribe.
