The Pima County board of supervisors has voted in favor of a 3 percent increase in sewer service fees.
The increase will mean residents will pay $13.01 for the service. In addition, customers will be required to pay a sewer volume rate that is dependant upon the type of property they own. For most residents, that will come out to $3.63 per unit.
The board has also agreed to a 3 percent increase to sewer connection fees, which will hit homebuilders and new businesses that need to connect to the system for the first time.
The decision comes after a public meeting in March to inform residents of the then proposal.
The county had determined the one-time cost of system capacity was $4,066 for an average residential-size water meter and $27,030 for a commercial water meter.
It had originally proposed a 4 percent hike in the service fee.
The county is the second-largest in the state with over 980,000 residents.
The vote passed 3-2 during the April 18 meeting and will go into effect on June 1. The last time the connection fee was changed was in 2012.
