Following the adoption of a resolution allowing for the creation of committees within the Arizona Corporation Commission, the commission announced the establishment of three committees that will allow it to gain a deeper perspective on issues affecting its stakeholders.
“I’m pleased to announce that three committees have already been created,” Commission Chairman Tom Forese said in a news release. “These committees will provide an opportunity for a ‘deep dive’ into issues that come before the commission and will offer a more complete perspective as to how we can best serve the residents of Arizona.”
So far, the commission has created the Committee on Water, chaired by Commissioner Andy Tobin; the Committee on Ethics, chaired by Commissioner Boyd Dunn; and the Committee on Federal Affairs, also chaired by Dunn.
Through the new committees, and future ones formed to address other issues, the commission hopes deal with items related to those issues in a more effective manner, using guidance and recommendations from staff and stakeholders with strong understandings of their inherent complexities.
“This will allow us to focus on the areas where we have specific interests or expertise,” Dunn said in the release. “The committees will help the commission be better informed and more efficient in the decision making process.”
