Leaders at the Arizona Indian Gaming Association (AIGA) recently spoke for all of its 15 Tribe members to show its support for Proposition 123, the Arizona Education Finance Amendment.

Provision 123 will provide desperately needed funds that will be dedicated to schools. Some experts estimate that the proposal will add $3.5 billion to finance K-12 education during the upcoming decade.

The Tribes located in Arizona already make significant contributions to K-12 education every year. As of today, the Tribes have donated over $500 million to improve education, whether it is based on or off the reservations. These funds have been used for early reading programs, reduction of class sizes, dropout prevention programs, and raising teacher salaries.

"Funding for Arizona's schools is critical to the economic growth and vitality of the state and will vastly improve the quality of life for all Arizonans," Louis J. Manuel Jr., AIGA Chairman, said. "Proposition 123 is consistent with AIGA member Tribes' efforts to provide all Arizona students with exceptional education and educational opportunities. We as voters have the power to give our children, and future generations, the priceless gift of a great education."
