AAA has launched a grassroots giving campaign aimed at addressing food insecurity across the United States. The initiative seeks to provide at least 3.5 million meals to those in need, responding to a decade-high level of food insecurity.
"AAA is a mission-driven organization, committed to helping save lives, creating member value, and delivering exceptional experiences," said Gene Boehm, AAA President and CEO. "With this campaign, we’re channeling that energy to work as one to end hunger in communities across the country."
The campaign partners with Feeding America, a network that supports millions facing food insecurity by providing access to necessary resources. AAA's involvement aims to raise awareness, generate donations, volunteer time, and engage local communities in building a hunger-free America.
"Hunger is a challenge we can overcome by working together," said Lauren Biedron, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. "We are excited to join hands with AAA, who understand the urgent need to address the hunger crisis and shares in our belief that food insecurity is about more than food. It’s about ensuring everyone has access to the resources needed to thrive."
In 2023, approximately 47 million people experienced food insecurity in the U.S., driven by rising living costs and limited food access. During June 23-27, AAA will focus on donation and volunteer efforts as children out of school often face increased food insecurity during this period.
AAA encourages public participation in ending hunger and supporting neighbors by visiting their campaign site for involvement opportunities or connecting with local resources through Feeding America's website for those needing assistance.
