The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the opening of additional Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) in Montmorency and Mackinac counties, Michigan. These centers aim to assist small businesses, private nonprofits, and residents affected by severe winter storms from March 28-30, 2025.
Starting Monday, June 23, SBA customer service representatives will be available at these centers to provide information about the disaster loan program, guide applicants through the process, and help complete applications. Walk-ins are welcome; however, appointments can be scheduled in advance at appointment.sba.gov.
The DLOC in Montmorency County is located at the Montmorency County Building on 12265 M-32 in Atlanta, MI. The center will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closing permanently on Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m.
In Mackinac County, the DLOC is situated at the Mackinac County Annex Building on 100 S Marley St in St. Ignace, MI. It shares identical operating hours with the Montmorency location and will also close permanently on June 28.
Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA stated: “When disasters strike, SBA’s Disaster Loan Outreach Centers play a vital role in helping small businesses and their communities recover.” He emphasized that SBA specialists are available to assist business owners and residents with disaster loan applications while providing information on recovery programs.
Disaster survivors are encouraged not to wait for insurance settlements before applying for a disaster loan. The SBA offers low-interest loans for total losses up to its limits if borrowers agree to use insurance proceeds for loan repayment.
Applications can be submitted online at sba.gov/disaster or by contacting SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or via email at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Telecommunications relay services are available by dialing 7-1-1 for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The deadline for physical property damage applications is August 8, 2025. Economic injury applications must be returned by March 9, 2026.
