Meta and Oakley have announced a collaboration to introduce a new category of Performance AI glasses. The Oakley Meta glasses aim to merge Oakley's design with Meta's technology, offering insights into physical capabilities and enabling users to share their achievements both on and off the field. The launch will feature athletes like World Cup winner Kylian Mbappé and three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.

The Oakley Meta HSTN glasses are designed for athletes and fans, featuring hands-free action capture through a built-in camera, open-ear speakers for audio, and an IPX4 water resistance rating. The product offers up to eight hours of battery life with typical use and can be charged to 50% in 20 minutes. A charging case provides up to 48 hours of additional power.

The glasses also include a higher resolution camera capable of capturing Ultra HD (3K) video. Integrated with Meta AI, the glasses allow users to interact with a personal AI assistant for various tasks, such as checking wind conditions or recording videos hands-free.

Preorders for the Limited-Edition Oakley Meta HSTN begin on July 11 at $499 USD, with the broader collection starting at $399 USD later this summer. Initially available in several countries including the US, Canada, UK, France, and Australia, plans are underway to expand availability to Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates by year-end.

A global campaign will showcase these glasses featuring Team Oakley athletes like Gabriel Medina and J.R. Smith. The product will debut at major sporting events such as Fanatics Fest from June 20-22 and UFC International Fight Week from June 25-27.
