IBM has announced the launch of new software designed to unify AI security and governance, offering a consolidated view of enterprise risk. The integration combines IBM's watsonx.governance with Guardium AI Security to enhance the protection and accountability of AI systems.
"AI agents are set to revolutionize enterprise productivity, but the very benefits of AI agents can also present a challenge," stated Ritika Gunnar, General Manager of Data and AI at IBM. The company aims to address these challenges by integrating its tools to manage security and governance risks associated with AI use cases.
The new offerings include automated capabilities for detecting new AI use cases in various environments, as well as automated red teaming to identify vulnerabilities. Suja Viswesan, Vice President of Security and Runtime Products at IBM, emphasized the importance of embedding security from the start: "The future of AI depends on how well we secure it today."
Jennifer Glenn from IDC Security and Trust Group highlighted the difficulties faced by security teams: "Unifying AI governance with AI security gives organizations the necessary context to find and prioritize risks."
IBM watsonx.governance will now monitor AI agents throughout their lifecycle, offering evaluation nodes that track performance metrics. Future updates will include additional compliance features set for release on June 27.
Furthermore, IBM is introducing Compliance Accelerators within watsonx.governance to help users map global regulations onto their own AI applications. These tools cover key standards such as the EU AI Act and ISO/IEC 42001.
To support clients in scaling AI responsibly, IBM Consulting Cybersecurity Services is rolling out new services that integrate data security platforms with domain consulting expertise. These services aim to guide organizations through secure-by-design practices across various layers of AI deployment.
Today's announcements align with IBM's broader suite of solutions intended to aid businesses in leveraging generative AI effectively while maintaining responsibility and security.
