Facebook is set to simplify video sharing by transitioning all videos into reels, eliminating the need for users to choose between uploading a video or a reel. This change will remove length and format restrictions for reels on Facebook.

Previously, users faced different processes and tools when uploading videos or posting reels. The new update will unify these experiences with a streamlined publishing flow that includes additional creative tools. Users will have control over their audience settings, determining who can view their reels.

Facebook aims to support all types of video content, including short, long, and live formats. The changes will be implemented globally across profiles and pages in the coming months to facilitate easier creation, sharing, and discovery of reels on the platform.

As part of this update, privacy settings for Feed posts and reels will be unified. Users' default settings for both formats will align post-update. When posting reels after the change, users can confirm or select new audience settings if needed. Options remain available for sharing with friends or broader audiences to expand reach.

A visit to the Help Center provides guidance on adjusting audience settings at any time.

The Video Tab introduced last year with an updated fullscreen player is being renamed the Reels Tab as part of this update. Despite this renaming, Facebook continues to value diverse video topics and lengths without altering its recommendation system based on user interests.

Previously shared video content remains accessible on user profiles or pages for continued enjoyment by audiences. Future videos created and posted will automatically become reels.

For more details about these changes tailored for creators on Facebook, further information is available online.
