The All England Lawn Tennis Club and IBM have introduced new AI-driven features for the upcoming Wimbledon 2025 tournament. Among these innovations is 'Match Chat', an interactive assistant that responds to fan inquiries during live singles matches, and an enhanced 'Likelihood to Win' tool that projects win probabilities in real-time.
These advancements are powered by match data and generative AI on watsonx, part of a continued effort by the All England Club and IBM to enhance fan engagement during The Championships. 'Match Chat' will be accessible via the Wimbledon App and website, providing instant match analysis through AI technologies such as IBM Granite, tailored to Wimbledon’s editorial style.
In addition, the improved Likelihood to Win feature utilizes player statistics, expert opinions, and match momentum for its projections. It leverages IBM's Red Hat Openshift technology for efficient application deployment across various environments.
Usama Al-Qassab from the All England Club stated: "We are committed to providing fans with the best possible Wimbledon experience...This year's new features will encourage the Wimbledon audience to immerse themselves and engage with all the match action like never before."
Jonathan Adashek of IBM added: "Solutions like Match Chat and Likelihood to Win show how AI on watsonx can deliver tennis fans the compelling real-time insight...Our 35-year partnership with the All England Club is another example of how IBM helps clients unlock and achieve lasting value from their unique data using AI."
The tournament is scheduled from June 30 to July 13, 2025. Fans can access these tools through wimbledon.com or by downloading the Wimbledon App. More information about Wimbledon 2025 and IBM's role in sports events can be found at ibm.com/sports/wimbledon.
