State Farm is actively responding to the severe weather and tornadoes that have recently impacted areas in Missouri and Kentucky. The company has mobilized its catastrophe claim response team to assist affected customers with damage to their homes. Local State Farm agents are also available to provide help.
"Our greatest concern is for the safety of everyone in the impacted areas," stated a representative from State Farm. "Our priority is taking care of our customers' needs."
As of May 18, 2025, State Farm reported receiving over 5,950 home and auto claims due to the severe weather on May 16-17. The breakdown includes approximately 3,500 claims in Missouri, 950 in Kentucky, 900 in Illinois, and 620 in Indiana.
To ensure effective service and response, catastrophe claims adjusters and support members are being deployed across multiple states. These teams will focus on contacting customers and handling initial claims, especially those with severe losses. Plans for Catastrophe Customer Care sites are underway in heavily impacted areas.
The company has activated its 1-800-SFCLAIM line for customers who cannot reach their local agents. Policyholders can submit claims through various channels including phone calls, emails, the mobile app, or the website at statefarm.com/claims. Customers can also text "CLAIM" to 62789 for a link to file a claim.
State Farm's response involves local agents familiar with the neighborhoods of affected customers and disaster-trained claim specialists evaluating damages on-site. They are supported by employees at centralized care centers nationwide who assist with customer inquiries and claims filing. Remote claim teams are conducting virtual inspections as part of their efforts to aid customers after the storm.
