Boeing has inaugurated its third distribution center in Germany, aiming to enhance its regional service footprint and customer support. The new facility, located in Dormagen, spans over 4,500 square meters and will house more than 9,000 unique parts for Boeing aircraft, including large items like landing gear components.
The distribution center is expected to benefit major airline customers across Europe by reducing delivery times for parts, thereby facilitating quicker repairs and maintenance work. This will help keep airplanes operational with minimal downtime.
"Service excellence is the cornerstone of our mission. We are committed to actively listening to our customers to ensure we deliver the critical parts they need when they need them," stated William Ampofo, senior vice president of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services. He added that the expansion of their global network through this new warehouse exemplifies their dedication to being where their customers need them most.
Boeing's investment in regional distribution centers aims to optimize parts delivery and maintain a reliable supply chain. The Dormagen warehouse is part of a network of nine global centers dedicated to holding and shipping spare parts specifically for Boeing’s commercial clients.
“Our new logistics and spare parts center in Dormagen joins our existing distribution services operations in Norderstedt and Henstedt-Ulzburg,” said Dr. Michael Haidinger, president of Boeing Germany. He emphasized that the new site reinforces Boeing's commitment to the German aerospace community and local partners.
The Cologne Distribution Center is anticipated to ship approximately 30,000 parts this year. While it primarily supports major European airlines, it serves all Boeing commercial airplane customers. The facility operates in collaboration with third-party logistics provider GXO.
“We are proud to extend our collaboration with Boeing to Germany, following our longstanding partnership in the U.S., affirming our proven expertise providing logistics services to the aerospace and defense industry,” commented Richard Cawston, chief revenue officer at GXO. He noted that the Dormagen warehouse's proximity to Cologne and Düsseldorf airports ensures a seamless flow of deliveries.
