IBM announced new hybrid technologies aimed at overcoming barriers to scaling enterprise AI during its annual THINK event. These innovations enable businesses to build and deploy AI agents using their own enterprise data.
IBM predicts over a billion apps will emerge by 2028, necessitating seamless integration and data readiness. A recent CEO study by IBM shows business leaders expect AI investment growth rates to more than double in the next two years. However, only 25% of AI initiatives have met expected ROI due to disconnected technology investments.
Arvind Krishna, Chairman and CEO of IBM, stated, "The era of AI experimentation is over. Today's competitive advantage comes from purpose-built AI integration that drives measurable business outcomes."
The company is offering tools like watsonx Orchestrate for building AI agents compatible with over 80 business applications. The platform includes build-your-own-agent capabilities and pre-built domain agents for HR, sales, and procurement.
To address integration challenges, IBM introduced webMethods Hybrid Integration, a solution that automates integration across apps, APIs, and more in hybrid cloud environments. A Forrester TEI study projects a 176% ROI over three years for organizations adopting these capabilities.
IBM also launched new features in watsonx.data to activate unstructured data for generative AI use. This includes an open data lakehouse with data fabric capabilities to unify and govern data across various platforms.
Infrastructure advancements include the launch of IBM LinuxONE 5 with state-of-the-art AI accelerators capable of processing up to 450 billion AI inference operations daily. The platform offers advanced security features and cost savings compared to x86 solutions.
IBM's efforts are supported by collaborations with companies such as AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA to enhance solutions for compute-intensive workloads.
Amy Angelini from IBM emphasized the company's commitment: "We help clients in more than 175 countries capitalize on insights from their data." Testimonials from partners like Banco de Brasil and Lockheed Martin highlight the impact of IBM's innovations on industries ranging from finance to national security.
