Box, Inc. and IBM have announced a collaboration to help organizations adopt enterprise-level AI for content-driven workflows, leveraging IBM watsonx and Box AI. Box plans to use IBM watsonx.governance internally to manage the lifecycle of AI models to ensure compliance with various regulations.
The partnership allows Box customers to utilize Box AI with IBM watsonx to access enterprise content and data. It employs IBM's enterprise AI studio, watsonx.ai, and includes models like the open-source IBM Granite and the latest Meta Llama. These integrations aim to automate business processes and enhance content management, addressing use cases such as data extraction and content analysis. IBM is currently using this technology within its workforce, with the solution becoming available to other enterprises.
Box CEO Aaron Levie stated, “The impact AI is having on the enterprise is unlike anything we’ve seen since the birth of the internet.” He emphasized the partnership with IBM helps enterprises to deploy AI responsibly.

Box uses IBM watsonx.governance to manage AI deployment, addressing risks and compliance issues throughout model lifecycles. Red Hat OpenShift continues to be a critical tool for Box, aiding in the development and deployment of AI applications across cloud environments.
IBM has integrated Box AI with IBM watsonx to enhance employee productivity by allowing them seamless interactions with their Box content. Box AI with IBM watsonx is now available to Box Enterprise Advanced customers. IBM is an authorized reseller for Box products that include Box AI, facilitating integration with IBM’s AI models.
