Morris Packaging announced plans to construct a $60.9 million flexible packaging facility in Lebanon, Kentucky. Governor Andy Beshear welcomed the investment, emphasizing the creation of 276 full-time jobs. "I’d like to welcome Morris Packaging to Marion County and to their New Kentucky Home, as well as the 276 quality jobs the company will create with this investment," Gov. Beshear stated. The new facility aims to enhance the company's printing and bag converting capacity and offer a redundancy option for customers across the United States. The facility is expected to be completed by October.

Jim Bob Morris, owner and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about the project. "We are beyond excited to start a new journey in Lebanon, Kentucky and become another well-respected member of the business community in town, as well as all surrounding cities and counties," he said.

Morris Packaging, headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois, offers various services, including sustainable packaging solutions for the pet and human food sectors. The company already has locations in Minnesota and Missouri.

Local officials in Marion County are optimistic about the economic impact. Marion County Judge/Executive David Daugherty noted, "Today marks a milestone for our community as we welcome this new manufacturing project to Marion County." Lebanon Mayor Gary Crenshaw expressed gratitude for the investment, saying, "This is a significant opportunity for the city of Lebanon, and we are grateful for Morris Packaging’s decision to invest in our community." Brooklyn Leep, Director of Marion County Economic Development, welcomed the economic benefits, stating, "The significant capital investment and 276 new jobs will have a lasting impact on our local economy."

This investment adds to a period of strong economic growth in Kentucky. Under Gov. Beshear, there have been over 1,100 private-sector projects with investments exceeding $35 billion. The Governor noted significant developments in Kentucky, especially in electric vehicle battery production with projects like the $5.8 billion BlueOval SK Battery Park.

To support the Morris Packaging project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority recently approved a 15-year incentive agreement. This agreement offers up to $4.8 million in tax incentives, contingent on job creation and wage targets. Morris Packaging could also benefit from recruitment and training resources provided by Kentucky's workforce service providers.

In wider economic news, Kentucky has seen increased ratings by major credit agencies and record-setting job numbers. The state has been ranked highly in economic development by Site Selection magazine and is pursuing initiatives to further boost investment and tourism, such as the New Kentucky Home project.
